What This Book Is
Most marketing books teach you how to market. This one doesn't.
We live in a commercial world. Everything is marketed to you. Everything is sold to you. The feed you scroll. The church you join. The house you bid on. The tulip that once cost more than the house. If you don't understand marketing, you don't understand the world.
Marketing Curious is a sense-making book. It's for anyone who's ever felt the machinery working on them and wanted to see the gears. You don't need to be a marketer to read it. You just need to be curious about the systems you're inside.
What's Inside
The 2nd edition is a different book from the first. It moves through four parts, and every idea in it was earned through a story I lived.
Part 1: The Perception Game. How systems construct value and belief. A church running a two-thousand-year-old playbook. Five wage brackets for the same pair of hands. An industry — one of the world's oldest — coming apart in five directions at once.
Part 2: The Bullshit Police. What it costs when nobody checks. The graveyard of things I built, bought, or believed without validating first. And what trust actually is, once you stop treating it as a feeling and start treating it as a system.
Part 3: The System Builder. The part I didn't want to write. A breakdown, a wardrobe, a therapist who prescribed curiosity. Then three businesses at once, and the foundation they all needed before any marketing could work.
Part 4: The Machine and the Human. AI, noise, and trust at scale. How machines decide who's credible. Why the content flood makes the specific more valuable, not less. Where the human has to stay in the loop — and what happens when they don't.
Not a Manual
The book teaches the lens, not the tactics. The operational depth — the frameworks, the diagnostics, the systems — lives in the Marketing Universe: five sites, each built for a different kind of person. The book is the story of how they came to exist. The sites are what got built.

The Price Is the Business Model
The 2nd edition ebook launches at US$2.99 — the lowest price Amazon lets an author charge without surrendering the royalty. After everyone's paid, I make about a dollar a book. The business plan, possibly a delusional one, is to sell a million of them and pay off the mortgage on a house being built in Central Otago.
That's the whole funnel. I don't do client work. There's no course behind the book, no consultancy, no "advanced" tier. Everything in the Marketing Universe is free.
Once I get your $1, I have nothing else to sell you. Which is exactly why the book holds nothing back.
Where to Buy
The 1st edition of Marketing Curious: Working the Noise is available on Amazon in Kindle format while the 2nd edition is in production.
The 2nd edition will also ship as a numbered, single-print-run hardcover. That run is an experiment the book performs on itself: the hardcover experiment.
